Palworld crafting materials: the top 5 cover 68% of all recipes

Storage fills up fast, and every base run turns into a guessing game about what to keep. So we counted from the other direction: how many recipes call for each material.

Our item data holds 1,104 recipes with listed materials. Across all of them, only 143 distinct materials show up. The game has 1,531 items total, so most of them never become crafting ingredients.

Ancient Civilization Parts sits alone at the top with 373 recipes. Roughly a third of everything craftable needs it.

Keep the top 5 stocked and two out of every three recipes are open to you. Push past that and the returns shrink: doubling from 5 materials to 10 adds only 9 more percentage points. If storage space is limited, the top 5 earn it first.

Where each one comes from

The top 5 come from different sources, so they don’t all fill up the same way.

Ancient Civilization Parts drop from Alpha Pals (field bosses). Catching one beats killing it, since you keep the parts either way with less risk of a wasted drop.

Paldium Fragment comes from blue ore deposits. It gets consumed for spheres from the early game through the late game, so setting up automated mining at your base saves a lot of manual trips.

Ingot and Refined Ingot both come out of a furnace fed by mined ore. Setting up that ore-to-furnace pipeline early is worth doing before you need it; we cover the sequencing in what to unlock first.

Leather drops from Pals. Hunting only one species dries up your supply fast, so pairing it with a ranch at base keeps the stockpile steady.

Recipe count isn’t the whole story

A material showing up in more recipes doesn’t mean you’ll run short of it. Fiber appears in 132 recipes, but trees drop it in bulk, so stock stays full. Hexolite sits mid-table at 65 recipes and is harder to keep in stock than that number suggests.

Recipe count and scarcity are two separate axes, and this article only measures the first one. Cross the two together and the materials that cause real trouble are Ancient Civilization Parts and Hexolite.
