What is Breeding Power in Palworld? How breeding decides the child

Every Pal in the Paldex lists a “Breeding Power” value. It is one of the least self-explanatory numbers in the game — but once you know what it does, aiming for a specific Pal gets a lot easier.

What Breeding Power is

Breeding Power is the ordering number that decides which Pal you get from breeding. Internally it is called CombiRank. It has nothing to do with combat strength — a high Breeding Power does not mean a strong Pal. Think of it purely as a Pal’s position in the breeding lineup.

The key idea: Pals with close Breeding Power values breed into each other.

How the child is decided

When you breed two Pals, the game first takes the average of the two parents’ Breeding Power — precisely floor((parent A + parent B + 1) / 2). The child is then the Pal whose Breeding Power is closest to that value. If several Pals are equally close, an internal priority breaks the tie.

Some pairings are “fixed” combinations that ignore this math and always produce one specific Pal (bosses and other uniques). Pals that only come from a fixed combo are excluded from the normal calculation.

Aiming for a specific Pal

Take the Breeding Power of the Pal you want as your target, then pick two parents whose average lands near that value. Pairing one parent above the target with one below, so the average meets in the middle, is the usual trick.
