Condensation is how you push a favorite Pal past its normal ceiling. You feed Pals of the same species into a Pal Essence Condenser (unlocked at Technology level 14) to raise the target Pal’s rank, shown as blue stars, up to a maximum of four. The big news for returning players is the cost: v1.0 cut the total needed for a 4-star Pal from 116 down to 48.

What condensation gives you

The payoff is more than a stat bump. Take a Pal to 4 stars and you get three things at once:

  • +20% HP, Attack and Defense. Each rank adds +5%, so a 4-star Pal sits at +20%. Hunger is not affected (Game8).
  • +1 to every Work Suitability. At 4 stars, all of that Pal’s work suitabilities go up one level. It is the only way to turn a level-4 suitability into an effective level 5 (paldb.cc, Game8).
  • A level-5 Partner Skill. The Partner Skill level tracks the rank, climbing from level 1 at 0 stars to level 5 at 4 stars (paldb.cc, Game8).

Legendary and boss Pals gain the most in raw numbers, since +20% is applied to a larger base.

v1.0 cut the cost to 48 Pals

The number of same-species Pals needed for 4 stars dropped sharply in v1.0, from 116 to 48:

Rank v1.0 cost
1 star 4
2 stars 8
3 stars 12
4 stars 24
Total 48 (was 116)

The 48-Pal figure (4/8/12/24) matches the official patch text quoted by paldb.cc and the official Steam changelog. Note that some English databases still list the old 116 total, so double-check the numbers you see elsewhere.

Where the fodder Pals come from

Even 48 is a lot of one species. The v1.0 capture bonus helps here: catching the same Pal grants bonus experience for the first 5, so you can catch for the bonus and roll the leftovers straight into condensation fodder. Breeding more at a ranch and buying Pals from merchants both work too. Every Pal’s base catch difficulty is listed in our Pal catalog.

Breed first, then condense

Order matters. Condensation consumes the fodder Pals, so lock in the IVs and passives you want through breeding first, then condense the finished keeper. You can work out how to reach a specific Pal with our breeding route finder, and the mechanic behind which child you get is covered in breeding power. v1.0 awakening raises HP, Attack and Defense through a separate system, so breeding, then condensing, then awakening stacks all three onto one Pal.

FAQ

What do I need to condense a Pal?
The Pal Essence Condenser (unlocked at Technology level 14) and multiple Pals of the same species as the one you want to boost. Reaching 4 stars now costs 48 in total (1 star = 4, 2 stars = 8, 3 stars = 12, 4 stars = 24), down from 116 before v1.0.
What do I get at 4 stars?
+5% HP, Attack and Defense per rank, capping at +20% at 4 stars, plus +1 to all of that Pal's Work Suitabilities and a Partner Skill raised to level 5 (it is level 1 at 0 stars). Hunger is not affected.
Should I condense before or after breeding for passives?
Finish breeding for the IVs and passives you want first, then condense that final Pal. Condensing consumes the fodder Pals, so you only want to do it on your finished keeper.
Where do the fodder Pals come from?
Catching the same species grants a capture bonus for the first 5, so the extras naturally become condensation fodder. Breeding at a ranch and Pals bought from merchants work too.
Can I stack awakening and condensation?
Yes. v1.0 awakening also raises HP, Attack and Defense through a separate system, so it stacks on top of condensation.
