Palworld technology points: the tree costs 1,409, levelling gives you 79

You never have enough technology points. The tree simply asks for far more than the game hands out.
We counted our technology data. The regular tree holds 536 entries and costs 1,409 points. Levelling all the way to the Lv80 cap pays out 79.
What you earn against what opens up
Levelling gives one point per level (Gamerch, GameWith). You start at Lv1, so hitting Lv80 leaves you with 79 points. Against that, the tree keeps opening up.
| Level reached | Points earned | Cost of what has unlocked | Gap |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lv10 | 9 | 92 | 10.2x |
| Lv20 | 19 | 213 | 11.2x |
| Lv30 | 29 | 377 | 13.0x |
| Lv40 | 39 | 571 | 14.6x |
| Lv50 | 49 | 786 | 16.0x |
| Lv60 | 59 | 1,010 | 17.1x |
| Lv70 | 69 | 1,228 | 17.8x |
| Lv80 | 79 | 1,409 | 17.8x |
The gap starts at ten times and never closes. Running short is the design, not a mistake you made. Levelling on its own unlocks 5.6% of the tree.
Technical manuals cover the rest
Manuals have no usage cap.
| Manual | Points |
|---|---|
| Advanced Technical Manual | 1 |
| Innovative Technical Manual | 2 |
| Futuristic Technical Manual | 3 |
Gamerch lists those values. The in-game descriptions in our item data grade them the same way, from “a small amount” through to “a large amount”. Manuals come out of chests in no-hunting zones and dungeons, and some Pals drop them.
Ancient technologies run on their own currency. There are 51 of them at 182 points total, and regular points will not touch them.
Cheap unlocks cluster early
Count the 1-point unlocks by level band and they thin out fast.
| Level band | 1-point unlocks |
|---|---|
| Lv1-10 | 39 |
| Lv11-20 | 27 |
| Lv21-30 | 15 |
| Lv31-40 | 6 |
The 5-point unlocks run the other way. There are 72 of them, and 71 sit at Lv41 or later. One outlier shows up at Lv35.
Early game you can grab most of what you want. The squeeze starts mid-game, which is where players who skipped manual hunting stall out.
Two thirds of the cost is gear
Split the 536 regular technologies by category and gear takes 340 entries at 985 points, while building takes 196 at 424 points. Roughly 70% of the bill is gear.
Decorative furniture counts as building, so skipping furniture frees up a real chunk if you would rather spend on combat and gathering.
Unlocks cannot be refunded, so the order you buy them in is the whole decision. Our technology tree lists all 587 entries with their level and cost (Japanese page), and the work suitability tool helps once you are choosing which Pals run the production lines you just unlocked.
