At some point you notice you have not caught a genuinely new Pal in hours. That is not bad luck. The number of Pals available at your current level swings by nearly double depending on the band.

We sorted the 275 wild-spawning Pals in our Paldeck data by their minimum spawn level.

Catchable Pals by band

Level band Pal count Top attacker
Lv1-9 53 Croajiro (100)
Lv10-19 27 Univolt (105)
Lv20-29 37 Helzephyr (125), Bushi (125)
Lv30-39 55 Ghangler (125), Moldron (125)
Lv40-49 24 Bushi Noct (130)
Lv50-59 26 Anubis (130)
Lv60-69 29 Necromus (145), Neptilius (145)
Lv70-80 24 Shaolong (135)

Two peaks stand out: 53 Pals in Lv1-9 and 55 in the Lv30s. Two valleys sit right after them, 27 in the Lv10s and 24 in the Lv40s.

Where the count stalls: Lv10s and Lv40s

Right after the opening stretch, the Lv10s cut your options in half. A few hours in, most of what you meet already sits in your Paldeck.

The Lv40s hit harder, dropping from 55 in the prior band to 24. Your character keeps leveling while the pool of new catches shrinks to its lowest point. If the grind stalls here, breeding closes the gap faster than more field time does. Work backward from the Paldeck’s parent combinations to find what your current roster can produce (breeding basics guide coming soon).

Lv60s: the last real spike

Pals with high attack stats bunch up in the Lv60s: Necromus at 145, Neptilius at 145, Frostallion at 140. Our own attack rankings cluster here too, see the strongest Pals by stats.

The Lv70s drop back to 24, and the highest attack in that band is Shaolong’s 135. By the numbers, your late-game roster peaks in the Lv60s, not the Lv70s.

Playing the bands

The data points to a clear split.

  • Lv1-9 and Lv30-39 reward field time. Catching still upgrades your roster here.
  • Lv10-19 and Lv40-49 run thin. Put that time into breeding and gear instead.
  • Lv60-69 is your last big spike. The Lv70s thin out fast, so treat them as Paldeck completion rather than a power gain.

For what to prioritize early, see our best early catches. A guide to mid-game roster building is on our list.

One note on the method: these counts use each Pal’s minimum spawn level. Some Pals with a low minimum, like Jelliette or Eikthyrdeer, spawn up to level 80, so you can still run into them late. The numbers above track when a Pal first becomes possible to catch, not every level where it can appear.

You can find each Pal’s spawn range on its Paldeck page. The 13 Pals with no wild spawn are listed in our guide to Pals with no wild spawn.

FAQ

How many Pals spawn in the wild in Palworld?
275, per our Paldeck data, out of 288 standard Pals. The other 13 have no wild spawn level and only come from breeding or raids.
At what level does catching new Pals get harder in Palworld?
The Lv40s. Only 24 Pals have a minimum spawn level between 40 and 49, less than half the 55 in the Lv30s just before it. Breeding fills your roster faster than field catching in this band.
Which level band has the most catchable Pals?
Lv30-39, with 55. Lv1-9 comes close at 53. Both peaks sit at the start of the early and mid game, and every band after that levels off in the 20s.
What are the strongest Pals you can catch late game?
The Lv60s hold Necromus (145 attack), Neptilius (145) and Frostallion (140). The top attack stats cluster in this band, then the Lv70s drop back to 24 catchable Pals.
