Only one nocturnal Pal in Palworld spawns exclusively at night
You head out at midnight to hunt a nocturnal Pal and find nothing. The Paldeck data and the spawn data disagree about what nocturnal means, and the game sets the two separately.
Of the 73 Pals flagged nocturnal, exactly one has every spawn point locked to night: Needoll Noct. The other 72 turn up somewhere in daylight.
Two different nights

One governs your base roster. The other governs when you go hunting. Our spawn dataset carries a note saying the two do not line up.
GameWith defines nocturnal as a Pal that stays active at night in your base, then adds that many nocturnal Pals show up in the field after dark. Many is the right word. Not all.

Out of 274 Pals with spawn data, these two are the only ones night-gated at every point. Hunt them after dark or not at all.
Hangyu Cryst does not even carry the nocturnal flag. It spawns at night, then sleeps at night once you put it to work. It also eats one food per meal while covering four job types, which earns its slot. At level 32 you will not find it early.

38 of them ignore the clock. Killamari, Caprity Noct and Helzephyr all read as night creatures and all show up at noon.
The 26 with partial gating keep daytime options. Depresso, Lyleen Noct and Kitsun sit here. When one refuses to appear at a known spot, try another habitat before you burn an in-game night.
The eight with no wild spawns are Xenovader, Dandilord, Bellanoir, Bellanoir Libero, Xenolord and the slime family. Circle the map as long as you like and they will not appear.
Our Paldeck counts 73 nocturnal Pals against GameWith’s 70. We have not worked out which three account for the gap, so treat that number as ours rather than settled.
Night shift at base
All 73 nocturnal Pals carry at least one work suitability. None of them is dead weight on the roster.

Three nocturnal Pals reach suitability 8: Dandilord, Solenne and Celesdir Noct. Ten Pals across the whole roster hold that ceiling, so your night shift draws from a thin pool. Dandilord also belongs to the group with no wild spawns, which leaves you two.
Nocturnal Pals eat more. The 73 average 5.04 food against 4.61 across all 299. A gap of 0.4 will not break your kitchen, though a base stacked with night workers drains stores faster.
GameWith reports that nocturnal Pals catch illness more often because they never sleep to recover sanity. Stock medicine before you run a permanent night crew.
