New areas: the sky islands and the World Tree

v1.0 adds a set of floating sky islands held aloft above the Palpagos map by the power of Paldium. They come with their own new ore that only special gear can mine, new Pals, and a new tower boss.

The World Tree is the heart of Palworld’s story. It finally answers the question the game has dangled since early access — why the factions keep fighting over the towers — and it’s where the toughest endgame challenge waits.

The wider world grew too: ancient ruins scattered across the map (exploration and mini-games that reward schematics), new towers that unlock nearby areas and act as fast-travel points, seven new small islands across volcano, desert, and ruin biomes, and settlements with new NPCs and side missions. Wildlife sanctuaries were reworked into protected zones — each with its own environment, exclusive Pals, rare materials, a powerful boss, and defense drones you have to sneak past. Wild Pal spawns and levels were rebalanced across the board (note: random-spawn worlds do not carry over pre-0.7.3 placement data).

Pals: Awakening, mutations, and a partner-skill overhaul

  • Awakening: a new upgrade path. Collect “radiant” shards from deep in the World Tree and spend them on a favorite Pal to unlock hidden power.
  • Mutations: breeding now has a small chance to produce a stronger-than-normal Pal. Mutated eggs hatch Pals with higher stats and unique passives. New cakes (Mushroom / Vegetable / Extravagant Vegetable / Special) raise the odds.
  • Partner skills: over 200 Pals had their partner skills reworked, and same-skill stacking no longer stacks — both widen party-building options a lot.
  • Work suitability now scales to 10 levels, and every Pal’s aptitudes were retuned so a work level rises each time you rank a Pal up.
  • Capture bonus now needs 5 captures instead of 12, and hitting max condensation needs 48 instead of 116.
  • Existing Pals also got 100+ new animations and many new active skills.

Combat and gear

Player actions were overhauled. Dodging while attacking or aiming is now a dash, and you can attack mid-dash. You can also issue attack commands to target enemies, which noticeably speeds up the pace of fights.
