Palworld breeding: the Breeding Farm, the Cake, and what decides the child

Breeding gets you a specific Pal, or ten strong copies of one, whichever you are chasing. The mechanics are plain: put two Pals in a farm with a Cake, then hatch whatever comes out. This guide walks through the buildings and the formula that decide your Pal, plus when to reach for which Cake.

What breeding needs

• A Breeding Farm (unlocks at technology Lv19)
• A Cake (one per egg)
• An Egg Incubator (Lv10, and hatching needs the right temperature)

Cook Cakes at a Cooking Pot (Lv17). The base recipe takes 5 Flour, 8 Red Berries, 7 Milk, 8 Egg and 2 Honey. Set up a ranch and a wheat field early, since a steady milk and wheat supply keeps the Cakes coming and the eggs from stalling.

Breeding Power decides the child

The Pal you get has nothing to do with looks or combat strength. It comes from a hidden number called Breeding Power. The child is whichever Pal sits closest to the average of both parents. The formula is floor((parent A + parent B + 1) / 2), and if two or more Pals tie for closest, an internal priority order breaks the tie.

Fixed pairs

Averaging is not the whole story. Certain parent pairs always hatch one specific Pal, regardless of where the average lands. We count 250 of these fixed combinations in our data, and most variants and unique species come from this list, electric-element variants among them. A fixed-pair child sits outside the normal pool of average-based candidates, so confirm the pair in the breeding calculator before you commit to one.

Version 1.0 added Cakes with different effects, so pick one for the job in front of you.

Vegetable Cake for volume, Extravagant Vegetable Cake or Special Cake when you are hunting a strong individual. The plain Cake is fine for anything early.

Skill and passive inheritance

Inheritance rules also changed in 1.0. Active skills come from a random draw among the three moves each parent has equipped, so set the move you want on a parent before breeding if you are aiming for it.
